How Do I Find the Right Fit for a Baseball or Softball Glove

Here are a few questions to answer so we can help you find your custom fit. While these are just general guidelines, keep in mind that finding the perfect fit often varies from customer to customer, but these are excellent starting points:

  • Are you playing softball or baseball (or both)?
  • Which hand do you throw with?
  • How old are you?
  • What’s your position?
  • Do you have a style or brand preference?

Then, follow the general guidelines on size, based on age and sport:

  • Pre-T-ball players under age 5: 9-inch glove
  • T-ball, ages 5 to 7: 9- to 11-inch glove
  • Youth baseball, ages 8 to 12: 10- to 12-inch glove
  • Youth softball, 8 to 12: 10.5- to 13-inch
  • Baseball, ages 13 to 18: 11 inches and up
  • Softball, ages 13 to 18: 11.5 inches and up
  • Baseball, ages over 18: 11 inches and up
  • Softball, ages over 18: 11.5 inches and up

If you’re a baseball player, here’s a list of gloves based on position:

  • First base: First base mitt
  • Infield: 11-inch and larger glove with a shallower, rounder pocket
  • Pitcher: 12 inches or larger with closed webbed, deep pocket
  • Outfield: 12.5 inches or larger with long, deep pockets
  • Catcher: Catcher’s mitt

If you’re a softball player, here’s a list of gloves based on position:

  • First base: First base mitt or 13-inch glove or larger
  • Infield: 11.5-inch glove or larger with a wider or deeper pocket
