FOOTBALL VICTORIES RESULT IN $5,000 WIN FOR SCHOOL
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (February 3, 2012) – National sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. operating as Hibbett Sports, is excited to announce the winner of the Alabama Win-Win Challenge, a sweepstakes that offered Alabama residents the chance to win $5,000 for their local school’s athletic department if the Alabama Crimson Tide and the local high school football team won in the same weekend.
Betty Williams of Jackson, Ala. was drawn from the entries at the Thomasville store and won $5,000 for Jackson High School. Williams has three children in the Clarke County school system, one of which plays football for the Jackson Aggies.
Hibbett Sports will present the $5,000 to Jackson High School during an assembly on Friday, February 10 at 1:30 p.m.
“If an Alabama high school football team won their game on a Friday night and the Alabama Crimson Tide won their game the following Saturday night, the residents in the cities of the winning schools could register for the Alabama Win-Win Challenge at any Alabama Hibbett Sports location,” said Jeff Rosenthal, President and CEO of Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc.
“Hibbett Sports has always seen the communities we serve as partners in our success. We try to give back to our communities whenever possible, through projects such as Operation Sports Renovation,” Rosenthal said, referring to Hibbett Sports' program that helps clean up and resupply schools in their markets that suffer damage from natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes and fires.
“We see the Alabama Win-Win Challenge as a fun, exciting way to spark greater interest in high school sports as well as win extra money for the schools,” Rosenthal added. “It really is a 'win-win' situation.”
In business since 1945, Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. operates over 800 sporting goods stores in small to mid-sized markets, predominantly in the Sunbelt, Mid-Atlantic and the Lower Midwest. The company’s primary store format is a 5,000 square-foot store located in dominant strip centers and enclosed malls. Each store typically lies within 150 miles of another store location.
