Celebrate World Kindness Day With Sustainable Products From These Brands

Nov 11, 2021

A day dedicated to the importance of being kind to yourself, each other and the world? Sounds pretty great, right? Every year on November 13, we celebrate World Kindness Day to remind us how compassion can not only connect us but bridge gaps between people and nations.

Many of our partners perpetually celebrate kindness through a variety of eco-friendly products and programs, allowing you to be simultaneously stylish, sporty, comfy and environmentally friendly. Here are a few eco-friendly brands we love that’ll help you show love to your wardrobe as well as the world. Visit a Hibbett | City Gear location or shop online to find sustainable shoes or apparel. Maybe you can even perform a good deed while donning your new kicks.

No Carbon with Nike

Through its Move to Zero campaign, Nike plans to produce zero carbon and zero waste in an effort to decrease its carbon footprint and protect the future of sports. Currently, the sustainable brand initiative includes apparel made with at least 50% recycled content and shoes with at least 20% recycled content by weight. Go green with a pair of men’s, women’s, or kids’ Swoosh kicks.

Eco-Efforts from UGG

UGG’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its Feel Good website, which is dedicated to its many eco-friendly initiatives. This open-access resource center includes educational information so designers and students can learn more about innovative and sustainable materials from top industry leaders and executives.

Reusing and Recycling by The North Face

The North Face has already established initiatives to create sustainable products, such as its Renewed Collection and Clothes the Loop program. However, future plans will propel the brand’s eco-friendly agenda even further with a circular system that will recycle previously owned apparel and gear. The brand will launch the first of these products in 2022 and plans to use 100% recycled, regenerative or responsibly sourced renewable fabrics for apparel by 2025, with footwear and equipment following in 2030.

adidas Advancements in Sustainability

In 1989, adidas banned the use of sulfur hexafluoride and chlorofluorocarbons – two potent greenhouse gases – and in 1998, it prohibited the use of harmful or toxic elements in all adidas products. Since then, the brand has instituted nearly annual advancements in green technology and standards. adidas’ Primeblue sneakers feature sustainable materials such as Parley ocean plastic — recycled waste from oceans and coastal communities.

Crocs Comfort and Care

Crocs is committed to comfort as well as environmental and humanitarian initiatives. The brand not only donates shoes, funds and volunteer hours to global communities through its Crocs Cares program, but it’s striving to incorporate more sustainable product ingredients and packaging materials. Crocs also has one of the lowest carbon footprints of many iconic footwear brands, and it’s shooting for zero carbon by 2030.

Birkenstock Raises the Bar

Since it already sources sustainable materials, such as cork, natural latex, leather, wood, felt, copper and brass, Birkenstock has long been an eco-friendly leader. However, the sustainable brand constantly works to improve its production processes, packaging and logistics. In fact, 98% of the adhesives used to create Birkenstock products are water-based.
