First up, the “Reverse Scratch,” which pays homage to the Grizzlies’ jerseys. Loosely woven white mesh informs the upper, complete with white midfoot bands that run from midsole to lacing system. A brown tongue tag showcases Ja’s triangular logo, with black laces just beneath. The most striking feature of the shoe is its black “scratches” along the lateral sides of the shoe. Both the forefoot of the upper and the Turbo Green midsole feature the jagged marks of a grizzly’s claw — or Memphis Grizzlies, as the case may be. Black Swooshes also include reversed white scratch marks on either side of the basketball sneaker, accompanied by a red heel overlay. A white rubber outsole has a red logo, matching the insole’s Ja branding.
While he’s not on the official Dream Team roster for the Paris Olympics, Ja will definitely be cheering on his cohorts from afar. The second shoe, the Nike Ja 1 “USAB” debuts with a navy blue mesh base, navy midfoot band and white textured Swooshes. A white midsole gives way to the striking red outsole, which includes the front-loaded Air Zoom unit. The right shoe’s navy tongue tag features a red Ja logo, with a white insignia on the left. The colors reverse along the No. 12’s stitched at the shoe’s blue and black-speckled heel. That patriotic red also dresses the sockliner and insoles. Flip the shoe over to catch a glimpse of the half-blue, half-red traction pattern, complete with white branding.
