NBA All-Star Weekend is Feb. 17-19, 2023, in Salt Lake City. The weekend will kick off on Friday with the Jordan Rising Stars game, followed by the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night featuring the NBA All-Star 3 point contest, and wraps up with the main event on Sunday — the 72nd annual NBA All-Star Game at 8 p.m. EST.

As for the NBA All-Star starters, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors are just a few of the stars you’ll see. James and Antetokounmpo will make their picks live in a televised pregame segment shortly before the game begins.

The league announced the NBA All-Star reserves on Feb. 2, which included the likes of Paul George of the Clippers, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers.

But who didn’t make the cut? Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis, who has been solid all season, leads the NBA with an average of 12.4 rebounds per game. He also posted a 66.7 true shooting percentage, which is 8.8 points higher than the league average.

Following close behind Sabonis is Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz with a 66.6 true shooting percentage and an average of 24.8 points per game. Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is one of only two players in the league to average more than 30 points per game. The other? Joel Embiid, who earned a spot as an NBA All-Star reserve. Why these fan favorites didn’t make it on the lineup remains a mystery.
