Meet Small Town Sneakerheads
Jordan Taylor & Deja
In this episode of Hibbett x Nike's Small Town Sneakerhead series, meet Nevada cousins and sneaker collectors Jordan and Deja! Sneaker collecting runs in the family for Jordan and Deja. Like they say, cousins who collect kicks together, step out in style together. Whether bonding over their latest cops or shopping together at their local Hibbett store, the 13- and 25-year-old small town sneakerheads from Nevada find that sneakers keep the two of them connected, despite their age gap.

Jordan, age 13, says her father instilled in her a passion for sneakers, and her cousins, like Deja and sneaker designer Aleali May, keep heat on her feet. Among Jordan's collection are Nike Air Max Pluses, Air Jordan 1s, "Millennial Pink" Jordan 6s, and style staples: Air Force Ones.

Deja's collection consists of the AJ 13 Retro "Starfish," Nike Zoom Vomero running shoes, and dozens of other styles she says most other sneakerheads might not like. That's just one more thing that Jordan and Deja have in common, the duo says. They don't just cop what's trending. They collect sneakers they genuinely like and want to wear. Because she is older, Deja feels like she can be an influence in Jordan's life beyond their shared love of sneakers, but their passion for collecting is a great place to start.

Her sneaker closet, which isn't a closet at all but a full-sized room in her home, is organized neatly from floor to ceiling with shelf after shelf of sneakers. On display are high-heat styles like the Air Max 97 "Swavorski," the "Jonny Kilroy" AJ 9 Retro, and Nike x Stranger Things "Hawkins High" Nike Air Tailwind 79.

Kenya's sneaker obsession started young. She vividly remembers asking her dad to buy her a pair of Jordans as a kid and being told that he couldn't buy her a pair of sneakers, but if she really wanted them, then she could get a job and buy them herself. So that's just what she did.

Being from a small town can make collecting challenging, something else Tony also knows all too well, but that hasn't slowed him down. Tony keeps collecting with the help of his local Hibbett store, and hibbett.com, where he is able to shop the hottest launches and newest styles from Nike and more.

Tony's collection boasts a variety of styles, including Air Max 97s, Air Force Ones, Nike Dunks, and old-school Nike Foamposites, among other styles in colorways that Tony feels not many other people would want to cop. Having off-the-wall and not-as-popular colorways is what makes his collection uniquely his.

You don't have to be from Chicago to know Mike.

You don't have to be from Uptown to know Uptowns.

In fact, some of the biggest hotspots for sneakerheads and sneaker culture are in the small towns across America, and no one knows the small town sneakerhead scene like Hibbett | City Gear.

Hibbett started small in rural Alabama in 1945, and this year we're celebrating 75 years of small town sneaker culture and shining the spotlight on small town sneakerheads across the nation in partnership with Nike and Nice Kicks.
