(If you’re reading this, we hope that means our last Crocs story helped you find the right-sized Crocs for you, and now you want to know how to keep them looking as good as the day you bought them all spring and summer long. If you haven’t read our Crocs sizing story, check it out!)

There are lots of reasons to love Crocs. From their practical design and comfortable materials to their exceptional durability and traction, Crocs might just be the perfect low-maintenance, all-purpose shoe.

Because they’re so great, it’s likely your kids will wear their Crocs every day in the summertime — at the splash pad, in the sandbox, at daycare, in the backyard — and you’re likely to wear your women’s or men’s Crocs out on the boat, on a quick store run, at the park with your kids… it’s only natural that your Crocs are going to get dirty. Good news! It’s super easy to clean and care for your Crocs. Here’s how:

How to Clean Croslite Crocs

Are your Crocs caked in mud, grass or dust, or do they just need to be shined up a bit? Either way, you’re in luck! Crocs shoes are made from the brand’s proprietary Croslite material, which is exceptionally easy to clean. To properly care for this soft, low-maintenance resin material:

  • Hand-wash or spot-clean your Crocs with cold water and mild soap.
  • Or, throw them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle.
  • After cleansing, let those shoes air-dry inside your house.

All the classic clogs and many of the sandals and slides styles are made completely from Croslite and can be cared for using either method listed above.

How to Clean Fuzzy Crocs

Your Crocs might be predominantly composed of Croslite material, but some Crocs shoes feature additional accent materials like faux fur lining! Fuzzy Crocs may be cozy, for sure, but after a while, those luxe insoles can become matted with dirt and debris unless you keep them clean. To care for your faux-fur-lined Crocs:

  • Brush out any dirt after each wear.
  • Remove the lining from the Crocs shoe.
  • Hand-wash the fuzzy insole using mild soap and cold water.
  • Air-dry the insole.

How to Clean Other Crocs Styles

For canvas Crocs, spot-clean with a soft-bristled brush or cloth and mild soap and cool water.

Add shine to your leather Crocs with a protector spray or wax after carefully cleaning with a slightly damp cloth. Check with the manufacturer on any additional care instructions specific to leather Crocs shoe you have.

For suede or wool styles, use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean the exterior and then apply a waterproofing treatment for long-lasting protection.

If you have a pair of Crocs wedges or heels, simply spot-clean with a damp cloth as needed.

Do Crocs Shrink?

Yes, Crocs WILL shrink. Too much heat, whether from the sun or the dryer, can shrink or warp your footwear. That’s why the brand only recommends air-drying all of its shoes. So if you’re drying those shoes in the heat of summer, make sure to air-dry the Croslite clogs inside rather than outside.
