Reebok has long been an icon of sneaker culture. But they weren’t always that way. Reebok’s sneaker innovation is largely the result of key collaborations with cultural icons like Kendrick Lamar, Allen Iverson, and Angel Reese.
One of Reebok’s biggest collaborations was with rapper Kendrick Lamar. At a time when sneaker collaborations were largely a gimmick, Lamar brought cultural relevance to his collabs, helping develop designs infused with personal meaning.
Kendrick Lamar’s Reebok shoes in red and blue were a nod to his hometown of Compton, CA. Specifically, the colors allude to gang conflict between the “Bloods,” represented by red, and the “Crips,” who were associated with blue. He used his Reebok collaborations to call for peace between the gangs, even emblazoning the word neutral on the inner tongue of his Reebok Ventilator design.
Kendrick Lamar’s shoe designs positioned Reebok as a competitor in the collectible sneaker industry. His limited edition releases have become coveted centerpieces of many sneaker collections.

Before the success of their Kendrick Lamar shoes, Reebok had one other major collab with NBA All-Star Allen Iverson, nicknamed “The Answer.” While Lamar was responsible for much of Reebok’s hip-hop influence, Iverson is credited with Reebok’s streetwear style influences.
Reebok’s bread and butter was sneakers for aerobics and fitness before their collab with Iverson. They weren’t associated with cutting-edge streetwear fashions like they are today. But Iverson’s iconic Reebok Question line — a reference to his iconic nickname — inspired Reebok’s fashion evolution into a key competitor in the basketball shoe industry.
Reebok’s collaborations with Iverson were the first of many athlete collabs. Other names that have left their mark on Reebok designs include golfer Bryson DeChambeau, basketball icons Shaquille O’Neal and Shawn Kemp and most recently, WNBA star Angel Reese.
Today, Reebok x Allen Iverson designs are part of a Reebok retro revival, with many of his earlier collabs resurging in popularity among collectors. The combination of quality performance and innovative style make his designs a must-have for true sneakerheads.
Reebok artist collabs continue to ride the forefront of fashion. Their latest lines are inspired by Gen Z fashion icon and beloved athlete Angel Reese.
