In a bustling, trendsetting metro like Dallas, Texas, Inder Singh’s black and red high-top Air Jordan 1s or Off White Jordan 4 “Sails” would likely stir up a frenzy of conversations from fellow sneaker fanatics. However, back in his hometown of Murphy, Texas – located roughly 45 minutes from DFW – his collection of grails doesn’t carry as much gravitas.
Tucked quietly away in an unsuspecting corner of his home, rather than out for display, Inder’s sneaker collection features limited release colorways and silhouettes that have sentimental value attached to them. For Inder, his rows of clean, crisp, and coveted sneakers are not status symbols, but symbols of personal achievement and his passion for curating his collection.
And despite a lack of other sneakerheads like himself in his small Texas town, and limited access to sources of new inventory for his wall of footwear, Inder is still able to pursue his passion thanks to his local Hibbett store, where he can always find authentic and quality kicks.
Sneakerheads come in all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, and locations.
You don't have to be from Chicago to know Mike.
You don't have to be from Uptown to know Uptowns.
In fact, some of the biggest hotspots for sneakerheads and sneaker culture are in the small towns across America, and no one knows the small town sneakerhead scene like Hibbett | City Gear.
Hibbett started small in rural Alabama in 1945, and this year we're celebrating 75 years of small town sneaker culture and shining the spotlight on small town sneakerheads across the nation in partnership with Nike and Nice Kicks.
Small Town Sneakerhead is a multi-episode video series that showcases the diversity among footwear enthusiasts, taking viewers through a day in the life of several footwear aficionados and sneaker collectors as they share their stories about how they got into sneaker collecting, what's in their collections, and what they are most excited about for the future of sneaker culture.
