Small Town Sneakerhead is back and kicking off our 2023 season with St. George, Utah native Jonathan Long, a basketball coach, trainer and sneakerhead, bringing basketball and sneaker culture to small-town America.
"Shoes and basketball go hand in hand. So when you talk about basketball you talk about the shoes. It's what tailors the culture of the shoes."
Long is a massive Jordan fan and has the collection to prove it. As someone who runs a basketball gym, he is always on the lookout for the perfect shoes both on and off the court.
Much like every other Jordan fan, he's looking ahead to what great things 2023 [the Year of Jordan] will bring in terms of fresh kicks as well as personal goals. "It's 2023 - it's Jordan Year...it's all about accomplishments. So in the year 2023, I'm looking to be that person to help accelerate myself, my family and those around me."
Sneakerheads come in all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, and locations.
You don't have to be from Chicago to know Mike.
You don't have to be from Uptown to know Uptowns.
In fact, some of the biggest hotspots for sneakerheads and sneaker culture are in the small towns across America, and no one knows the small town sneakerhead scene like Hibbett | City Gear.
Hibbett started small in rural Alabama in 1945, and this year we're celebrating 75 years of small town sneaker culture and shining the spotlight on small town sneakerheads across the nation in partnership with Nike and Nice Kicks.
Small Town Sneakerhead is a multi-episode video series that showcases the diversity among footwear enthusiasts, taking viewers through a day in the life of several footwear aficionados and sneaker collectors as they share their stories about how they got into sneaker collecting, what's in their collections, and what they are most excited about for the future of sneaker culture.
