We Support Her Sole. Join us for Eps. 1 & 2 of our latest collab with Nike & Nice Kicks, “Support Her Sole,” a community empowerment and giveback series made by women, for women.
Entrepreneur and lifestyle blogger, Jasmine Sweet, serves as the host of the series and introduces us to the different torchbearers of the industry. Our first stop is in Houston, Texas where we meet Tausha Sanders, the founder of Her Grails -- a platform that celebrates women by bringing them together for sneaker-centered events. Up next, we get to know Melissa Chanel, the founder of Kicks & Fros. With education and entertainment in mind, Kicks & Fros supports black women that are making a space for themselves within the sneaker community.
As the series continues, we’ll get to know more about the business-building and barrier-breaking women that are leading the pack. With industry trailblazers like Aleali May, Chitose Abe, and Rihanna shaking up the sneakersphere over the past few years, it’s time we start to look to the women in our local sneaker communities that are pushing the culture forward.
Episode 2 features Nia Symone and Bianca DeRousse, two leading women in the world of sportswear and media. Nia Symone is a former D1 Basketball player from Alabama State University and is currently the host of Nike’s YouTube series “Come Thru.” Similar to Nia, Bianca DeRousse is a mover-and-shaker in media and hosts a weekly women-centered Instagram live series called #SneakerSundays. Both Nia and Bianca use their platforms to tell the stories of women, by women and for women — because at the end of the day, women supporting women is the only way through.
