Something out of this world is coming to Hibbett on September 19. We're making space in our Air Jordan 9 collection on the Hibbett site and shelves for the re-release of the legendary Air Jordan 9 "Space Jam" sneaker, so get ready. 

The Heritage Behind the Air Jordan 9 Space Jam Design

The original "Space Jam" movie came out in 1996 and was an immediate hit. One thing all sneakerheads noticed while watching was the chic high-tops Michael Jordan was sporting throughout the iconic Monstars training montage for the Ultimate Game. 

Even if these shoes hadn't been in the movie, they're such a stylish and eye-catching style that they probably still would've become a staple in sneaker culture. They have a white upper outlined with black around the midsole and collar. To create even more of a colorblock, the midsole is white, and the laces are traditionally black, so these stand out in every environment. And the black mudguard is slightly glittery, adding to this design's galactic pizzazz.

Small red details finish off the look, like the logo on the tongue and side of the outsole. However, in one of the defining design elements of the AJ 9, there is no Nike Swoosh, keeping the design more polished and sharp.

The model is constructed with premium leather for a durable design, but perforations along the sides allow for ventilation that keeps your feet cool. With a supple inner sleeve that hugs your foot, you get a snug, secure fit without sacrificing flexibility. You also get to enjoy the speedy, one-pull lacing system, which lets you tighten the laces with a single pull.

The Air Jordan 11 Space Jam history is a long one, and these sneakers are more than a shoe. They're a cultural moment, a feat in engineering, a fashion statement. The last Jordan 9 "Space Jam" release date​ was in 2016, so we've all been waiting for this for a decade.
