A completely white leather upper on the Air Jordan 4 Retro "Hyper Violet" won't be the easiest to keep clean if you've got an adventurous child, but it sure does look fresh. Even the iconic side panel netting is white on white for a crisp monochromatic style.
The standard plastic wing eyelets—crafted by Hatfield for improved durability—are stunning in Hyper Violet. They attach at the ankle and traverse back toward the heel to improve lockdown. Similarly, the waffle eyelet at the bottom of the lace box is also Hyper Violet. The plastic wing on the toddler and preschool shoes is actually a sewn-on patch instead of a functional piece.
Another difference between the big and smaller kids' shoes is the branding. The grade school shoe has a classic Jumpman on the tongue with "Flight" printed at the bottom, while the smaller versions only have an embroidered Jumpman. Also distinct is the heel branding, which features a Hyper Violet shadowed Jumpman on the grade school shoe and a simpler Hyper Violet Jumpman on the little kids' shoes.
The shoes collide again on the midsole, which is white on all variants. The grade school kids' version has a visible Air unit in the heel, while the smaller shoes don't. However, all feature a Hyper Violet rubber outsole that'll help even wobbly kids maintain their balance.
