First released in 1995, the Nike Air Max Uptempo 95 was a game-changer — the first basketball shoe to feature a full-length visible Air unit.
Now, Nike is bringing back the Air Max Uptempo 95 in “Mystic Teal”, and if you’re a fan of classic 90s basketball sneakers, this one’s a must. Dropping on March 9 in men's sizes, this 2025 retro sticks to the original design, keeping everything that made the Uptempo 95 an icon.
At the time, Nike called it “the most Air cushioning we’ve ever put into a sole”, and the impact was undeniable. Players rocked it on the court, and sneakerheads took it straight to the streets. Almost three decades later, the Uptempo legacy is still going strong.
The white leather upper is crisp as ever, with a breathable mesh tongue for all-day comfort. Black nubuck mudguards wrap around the shoe, adding contrast and structure, while the signature “AIR” branding on the eyestays locks in that throwback energy.
A white Swoosh outlined in black stands out on the side panels, while black loop tongue and heel tabs make the shoe easier to slide on and off. The heel features the unique Air Uptempo logo in white.
But let’s be real — the star of the show is the Mystic Teal detailing that hits the outsole and the massive visible Air unit. This colorway was a fan favorite back in the day, and it still turns heads now. Nike even added metallic silver accents around the Air unit for an extra touch of shine.
Underfoot, the black outsole finishes things off with touches of Mystic Teal spots throughout.
