Sneakers Release – Adidas Dame 6 “Stone Cold” Royal/Black

It’s no secret that Portland Trail Blazer point guard Damian Lillard idolizes famed 90’s wrestler “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, just a little. Just how much does he like the WWE Hall of Famer?

Well, let’s just say Lillard was a HUGE hit with his teammates, the media and the “King of the Ring” himself when he arrived at the Moda Center in a full Stone Cold costume for Halloween in 2018.

This month, Lillard will honor the Texas Rattlesnake again with the release of his sixth signature adidas basketball shoe, the “Stone Cold” Dame 6. The men’s Core Black, Gold Metallic and Team Royal Blue Dame 6 launches in-stores and online at Hibbett | City Gear on January 25.

Blatant references throughout the sneaker pay tribute to the pro wrestler, adding both a touch of nostalgia and an air of excitement to the shoe’s design, like the can’t-miss DAME 3:16 boldly printed on the white midsole in honor of when Austin defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts in 1996.

The “Stone Cold” rendition also features a black synthetic snakeskin upper – perhaps another nod to that famous 1996 fight – paired with a layered mesh screen on the shoes’ lateral sides. A royal blue synthetic material punctuates the medial sides. This multilayered approach gives the upper stability and durability.

A webbed cable lacing system in bright gold tightens the secure fit, while royal blue laces intertwine in a serpent-like pattern. Additional flourishes extend through the traditional three stripes, which get a touch of mesh, echoing the lacing cables, and gold branding on the tongue. A royal blue and black heel spoiler brings the design together.

Beyond its bold colorway, this boundary-breaking sneaker packs a serious performance punch. The point guard’s sixth signature sneaker is built specifically to match Lillard’s unique playing style.

The Dame 6’s insides feature cushioning engineered to make anyone king of the court. An oversized white lightstrike midsole gives the shoe its lightweight responsiveness. Movement is made easier with the Dame 6’s dynamic, herringbone-style traction pattern.

The marbled half-blue, half-white, icy translucent outsole also extends up the shoe’s sidewall with rounded edges for added durability and protection.
