Whether you’re pounding the pavement, cutting across the court or suiting up for an event, put your best foot forward in a premium pair of Jordan sneakers.
On July 16, the Air Jordan 11 Low IE Retro drops in a “Black Cement” colorway. The shoe, which has a similar vibe to the “Black Cement” AJ 3, gets a black, Fire Red, Cement Grey and white treatment. Find the Tinker Hatfield-designed basketball sneaker in men’s sizes online and in your local Hibbett | City Gear locations.
Wondering what the IE means in the sneaker name? Well, that seems to be a matter of debate. While Nike responded to a tweet in 2011 telling fans they heard it stood for “international exclusive,” they conceded that not even Tinker Hatfield himself knew the meaning of IE. (Another rumor is that it means Imprinted Elephant, by the way.) Mystery aside, the IE shoe is a departure from the traditional high and mid-cut AJ 11 styles.
Rather than patent leather, this shoe relies on a black tumbled leather toe and smooth upper with plenty of stitching to give it structure and texture, while a Cement Grey elephant print overlay with geometric cutouts circles the shoe. The textured white midsole comes in a composite material for lightweight comfort and stability.
The AJ 11 Low IE Retro’s full-length Air-Sole unit bolsters the cushioned comfort of the package. And underfoot, a translucent grey outsole with strategically placed black modified herringbone traction patterns give excellent grip. The Fire Red comes into play on Jumpman insignia that peers through the translucent outsole, echoing the stitched-on red player embroidered on the tongue and the Fire Red tongue lining.
