The Nike KD15​ “Pink Foam/Orewood Brown/Arctic Pink” men’s basketball shoe drops October 21 at Hibbett | City Gear.

It’s a tradition that Kevin Durant honors his late Aunt Pearl with every new release of the Nike KD since the KD 4. Now that we’ve reached the 15th iteration, it’s time for another tribute to his aunt who died of lung cancer in 2000.

The KD 15 NRG “Aunt Pearl” sneaker uses frilly pinks and floral touches for a soft, feminine look. The floral touches are slightly reminiscent of the KD VI “Aunt Pearl,” which featured another floral print from the robe his aunt used to wear. Whether or not this new style has the same inspiration, it’s slated to drop in men’s sizes on Oct. 21.

A mostly pink mesh upper has a slightly tonal look, with shades of lighter and darker pink mixing together across the toe box and middle. At the middle, the TPU cages feature a pink pearlized finish, with wings that connect two eyestays to the midsole. On both the medial and lateral sides, an intricate Swoosh design looks like it’s been crafted out of pink mother-of-pearl chunks.

The heel is covered in a light pink suede that features embroidered floral patterns in white thread. The heel tab is a dark pink suede that features a flower on the left shoe and “Aunt Pearl” in cursive scrawl on the right shoe. Beneath this is “07” — KD’s number — in a brighter pink.

The tongue looks to be a satiny velvet material, also covered in floral embroidery. The right shoe has a peach thread, while the left shoe has a lighter pink thread. There’s additional KD branding at the top, along with an embroidery message to Aunt Pearl on the back of the right tongue.

The pink full-length Zoom Strobel midsole sits upon a translucent pink outsole. Marbleized traction pattern covers the bottom, along with a bright pink Air Zoom insert at the midfoot.

All in all, this is a shoe Aunt Pearl would most certainly be proud of. And you can be too when you pair it with the right accessories. Pink is already a pretty bright accent, so we recommend keeping the rest of your outfit chill. Think white or black crew socks paired with black basketball shorts.
