Everyone loves a good mashup, especially when it comes to Nike combos. Typically, this means you get the best of all your favorite shoes combined in one awesome kick.
That’s especially true when it comes to the Nike Waffle One, a new running shoe available in men’s and women’s sizes starting June 4. It’s a mix of the Nike Daybreak x Undercover and Nike LDWaffle Racer x sacai collabs. Both Undercover and sacai are Japanese brands that breathed new life into these beloved Nike classics. While those releases were limited edition — and designed by Japanese creative superstars Jun Takahashi and Chitose Abe, respectively — this new model will be much more accessible.
To start, the new running shoes will be available in four new colorways. First up is an “Active Fuchsia” scheme featuring the eponymous hue along with University Gold and black. You can snag this colorway in men’s, women’s and kids’ sizes.
There’s also an “Infinite Lilac” rendition coming to the sneakersphere characterized by hues of Summit White, Infinite Lilac and Light Bone. This particular release is a women’s-exclusive.
A Bleached Aqua, Lime Glow and Coconut Milk women’s shoe and a Summit White, Black and Orange kids’ shoe will also launch as part of this debut Nike Waffle pack.
The “Active Fuschia” Nike Waffle One provides a fun burst of color underfoot with its vibrant pink mesh fitted with pink suede overlays. A yellow Swoosh cuts through the middle, while a black suede toe box and lace guard make a bold statement. Yellow embroidery along the ankle and heel adds even more flair.
If you’re seeking a more subdued vibe, the “Infinite Lilac” colorway might be more your speed. It keeps things calm and understated with an Infinite Lilac Swoosh paired with a white and off-white mesh and suede upper. The mint green Swoosh at the heel adds just a splash of color. The dual-stacked midsole of these kicks maintains the traditional wedge silhouette you know and love from previous iterations. However, the Nike Waffle One includes a new foam that’s softer on your feet. Your ride will feel more cushioned than ever before, especially during longer distances.
And of course, beyond this new sneaker’s striking colorways, there’s the waffle-tread outsole. Like many of Nike’s best innovations, it comes with a story. Co-founder of Nike, Bill Bowerman, was eating waffles for breakfast one day when inspiration struck. Wouldn’t the grooves of the waffle iron make a great mold for a shoe? This led to the creation of Nike’s first shoe, the Waffle Trainer. The new Waffle One borrows heavily from this original design but with updated molded lugs for additional durability, traction and support.
With the Nike Waffle One, you’ll enjoy the best of both worlds so you can work on improving your PR on the track and your personal style best too! Cop these colorways before they’re gone starting June 4 at Hibbett | City Gear.
