Summer is the season to let your footwear get a little loosey-goosey. If it’s cool, comfortable, and complements your style, we say wear it with pride! From indestructible clogs to contoured sandals, here are our favorite shoe trends for summer 2024.
Crocs have been the shoe of the summer for several years running now, and spoiler alert: they’re not going anywhere. Or maybe we should say they’ll be going everywhere: the beach, the backyard BBQ, and anywhere else people are hanging out, where you’ll for sure spot at least one pair per gathering. Haters can stay mad, but you’ll have comfy feet and on-trend shoes, so who’s really winning here?
Choose classic clogs decked out in tie-dye and wear them with a sports bra and oversized sweatpants, or go with an open Crocs sandal and pair with bike shorts and a crop top. Crocs are ultra-comfy, and you can just hose them off if they get grassy, sandy or muddy — so don’t be shy about wearing them for any kind of summer adventures. Plus, you can add Jibbitz charms to up the ante on your shoe trends this summer.
Chaco sandals are a long-standing staple for everything from river tubing to hiking the Appalachian Trail. After all, the footwear company was started by a whitewater rafting and fishing guide to keep feet from getting wrinkled and soggy post-adventuring — so you know they’re ready for whatever outdoor shenanigans you get into this summer.
Our Chaco crush of the season is the Chaco Chillos slides. Ridiculously light, comfy and stylish, these trending summer shoes look great with leggings and a lightweight top, dresses or denim. They’re perfect for a day trip to the lake or a
If Crocs aren’t your bag, there are plenty of other ways to experience the casual comfort of slip-ons this summer. Nike Calm Slides are the classic Nike slides with the air conditioning at maximum — a soft and responsive foam slide that keeps your feet feeling good anywhere.
For a slip-on that’s never gone out of style (and probably never will), Birkenstocks are a no-brainer. The Birkenstock clog is timeless for a reason — but if you’re in the mood for something a little different EVA Birkenstock sandals with a one-piece EVA footbed and dual straps with adjustable metal buckles.
Enough sandals and slip-ons — what if your taste in summer shoes runs more toward a pair of clean, sporty kicks? You’re just in time to meet the brand new Nike Air Max 1 SC “Stadium Green,” with the combination of throwback silhouette and subtly regal colorway that makes a crisp combo with Nike Short Set.
adidas heads also have plenty to celebrate with the release of new summer colorways for the adidas Gazelle Bold. The iconic three-striped suede design is now out in a luscious lineup of candy-colored, ice cream-inspired looks. Every colorway ranks among our best summer shoes for women and is guaranteed to go crazy with anything from a tennis skirt to a pair of cargo joggers.
If you're looking for a summer shoe that blends heritage with modern performance, then the New Balance 2002R is a perfect choice. This revamped version of the early 2000s running shoe boasts a classic silhouette crafted with premium suede and breathable mesh. The ABZORB midsole and ABZORB SBS heel cushioning keep your feet comfortable throughout the day, whether you're cruising around town or hitting the pavement. Available in a wide range of colorways, the 2002R easily complements your summer style, making it a versatile option that can be dressed up or down.
Walk the dog, work in the garden, take your bike for a spin — if you’re doing any kind of dad-like activities this summer, Hey Dude shoes are your workhorses. These surprisingly stylish shoes draw you in with the look of a moccasin, but they keep you wearing them thanks to their ultra-light design, memory foam insoles, and canvas upper.
As if that wasn’t good enough, the secret that puts Hey Dudes over the top as one of the best summer shoes for men is that they’re totally machine washable. Wear them with your joggers, snapback and/or team tee for a casual summer fit that’s at home anywhere.
