Hibbett x Nike Name 2 New First String Honorees: Normandy High School & Westwood High School

Hibbett and Nike continue their season of giving by welcoming Westwood and Normandy High Schools to the First String initiative. The partnership delivers essential basketball gear, $50,000 donations, and life-changing scholarship and internship opportunities to support student-athletes long after the final buzzer.

Hibbett and Nike named two additional high schools to their joint First String philanthropic initiative this month, continuing their commitment to supporting youth athletes during the season of giving.

On November 12, student-athletes at Westwood High School in Blythewood, South Carolina, and Normandy High School in St. Louis were surprised with new duffel bags and $15,000 in Hibbett gift cards. The contribution allows each school and its coaching staff to equip players with essential gear for the upcoming basketball season.

First String is designed to strengthen boys’ and girls’ basketball programs at the local level and invest in student-athletes’ long-term success. The program emphasizes community support, academic achievement and athletic development.

As part of the initiative, each school received a $50,000 donation. In addition, one senior from each school’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will be eligible for four-year scholarship funding to pursue postsecondary education. Selected students will also receive an internship and job-shadowing opportunity at Hibbett’s headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
