Kandace: I am Kandace Turner, and I began collecting when I was in high school.
Kandace: I am currently the Vice President of Human Resources.
Kandace: My passion for sneakers was sparked by my brother and love for basketball. Specifically, the profound impact of Michael Jordan on the game, sneaker culture, and the Black community truly ignited my deep-seated passion for sneakers.
Kandace: The culture and the exhilarating feeling I experience with each new purchase are unmatched.
Kandace: I have around 300 pairs. My favorite sneakers may not be flashy or elaborate, but there’s something about the classic appeal of Retro 2’s that has always captivated my heart!
Kandace: I’m thrilled to witness the rise of women and the impact on the sneaker world. Lately, there’s been a surge of collaborations between women and major brands, reshaping the sneaker community. This representation is not only crucial but also incredibly inspiring.
Kandace: Women are leaving a significant impact and amplifying their voices, helping the world recognize the vital role they play in shaping sneaker culture.
Kandace: Recently, I found inspiration in the Yard Runner’s series, particularly witnessing a young girl from Alabama area, Kalynn, designing the dunks for TSU Homecoming.
Kandace: Ensuring inclusive sizing and colorways for women is crucial for the growth of the sneaker culture. To truly progress, we must prioritize inclusivity and representation.
Kandace: I am eager to see more brand collaborations featuring women from diverse sports backgrounds, including the WNBA, track and field, and beyond, securing signature sneaker deals.
