New Nike Air Max Pulse Review by Hes Kicks!

Aug 22, 2023

Have you checked out the Air Max Pulse yet? A Summit White, black and Pure Platinum men’s Nike Air Max Pulse debuted earlier this summer, followed by a few other colorways largely composed of white, black and grey shades.

We sent a pair to one of our favorite sneakerhead influencers, James Hesse, aka Hes Kicks, to get his take on this newish silhouette.

The sneaker retails for $150, but is the Nike Air Max Pulse worth copping? Here’s what Hes Kicks says in his Nike Air Max Pulse review.

THESE SURPRISED ME!
Right out of the box, Hesse noted the similarity to the Air Max 270. “It’s an interesting-looking pair of sneakers,” he says. “Pretty much like an Air Max 270 V2 because they’re super similar.”

What Hes Kicks Loves About the Nike Air Max Pulse

Says Hesse: “It’s a pretty comfortable shoe. Definitely kind of like a hybrid sort of thing from an Air Max 270 and Air Max 90."

  • Touch of translucence at the heel on the sole, giving way to the visible Air trademark of Air Max sneakers
  • Mesh-covered plastic guard over top of the Air unit for additional stability and security
  • Updated, modernized Air Max branding on the heel tab, Air unit and tongue
  • Softer, squishier foam material than a traditional Air Max 270
  • Extra heel traction on the outsole
  • Inward-sewn lacing loops
  • Mesh tongue with reflective accents reminiscent of the Air Max Plus

Other Thoughts From Hes Kicks on the Nike Air Max Pulse

  • The shoes fit true to size, but are a bit snug. Consider going a half size up
  • When worn side by side, Hesse notes there’s more “squish” in the Air Max 270’s heel
  • The shoe clocks in slighter heavier than the 270

The bottom line, though, is “if you like the Air Max lineage and you like the Air Max 270s and 90s and those types of sneakers, these are another one you can add to the rotation,” concludes Hesse.
