Small Town Sneakerhead – A Holiday Season Update On Our Original Sneakerheads

Dec 13, 2021

It’s been a full year since Hibbett | City Gear and Nike partnered with Nice Kicks to launch our Small Town Sneakerhead series – a multi-episode storytelling project highlighting small town sneakerheads across the country.

This holiday season, we are revisiting each of our OG Small Town Sneakerheads for an update on their collections and lives since they first invited us into their hometowns. For some, not much has changed except their sneaker totals have increased, but for others, big things have happened in the wake of their Small Town Sneakerhead features.

From cross-country moves, new jobs and wedding bells to an opportunity to work with Nike and beyond, say hello – again – to our 2020/2021 Small Town Sneakerheads!

1. Tiona Deneice

Originally from East Buffalo, New York, Tiona appeared in the very first episode of STSH in November 2020 and recently moved Atlanta. She shows us her ever-growing sneaker collection and tells us that she has been focusing on her singing career and producing her very first EP with Flee Lord.

The Small Town Sneakerhead Story

Sneakerheads come in all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, and locations.

You don’t have to be from Chicago to know Mike.

You don’t have to be from Uptown to know Uptowns.

In fact, some of the biggest hotspots for sneakerheads and sneaker culture are in the small towns across America, and no one knows the small town sneakerhead scene like Hibbett | City Gear.

Hibbett started small in rural Alabama in 1945, and this year we’re celebrating 75 years of small town sneaker culture and shining the spotlight on small town sneakerheads across the nation in partnership with Nike and Nice Kicks.

Small Town Sneakerhead is a multi-episode video series that showcases the diversity among footwear enthusiasts, taking viewers through a day in the life of several footwear aficionados and sneaker collectors as they share their stories about how they got into sneaker collecting, what’s in their collections, and what they are most excited about for the future of sneaker culture.
