First, there was the Air Jordan 4, which originally debuted in 1989 and celebrates its 35th anniversary as an integral silhouette in the Jumpman portfolio. And now the Air Jordan 4 RM makes its debut, a 2024 remastered spin on the OG.

Short for “Restomod” — or restoration and modification — the Jordan 4 RM does away with all those details you’ve come to expect from a traditional AJ 4. You won’t find the signature quarter panel netting nor the lacing wings, for instance. 

The lower cut RM plays it safe with a refined aesthetic designed for mass appeal. This kind-of Dad shoe retains its chunkier midsole and bolsters its comfort. Up top, however, the upper offers a sleeker build, commingling leather, canvas and suede. 

Like its “Oxidized Green” AJ 4 Retro counterpart released earlier this summer, the RM rendition includes a smooth leather toebox, TPU overlays running along the sizes and canvas surrounding the laces. The suede mudguards, laces and sockliner all come drenched in the deep forest green. A gridded TPU overlay coats the heel, complete with minuscule, debossed Jumpman logos and larger, white Nike Air branding. The shoe’s Sail midsole retains the look and feel of a traditional AJ 4 sneaker, complete with visible Air-Sole unit. That Sail tone extends to the herringbone traction pattern along the rubber outsole. 

The “Legend Light Brown” shoe is almost completely tonal, save for the Sail midsole, which only slightly departs from the sandy Legend Light Brown. It’s a scheme that proves endlessly versatile, appealing to those looking for a neutral, minimalist aesthetic.
