Jordan 1 Retro High OG "Royal" Launching 10/10 Colorway: BLACK/GAME ROYAL/WHITE Style: Men's and Kid's Sneakers

Release Date: October 10, 2026

Sep 30, 2026

Some looks never go out of style, even if we haven't seen them for a while. Nike is bringing back the Air Jordan 1 "Royal" on October 10. It's been a while since the brand made this iconic colorway available, so collectors and MJ fanatics better be ready for the release. Plenty of people will be trying to get their hands on these.

A Legacy in Blue: The History of the Air Jordan 1 "Royal"

The Air Jordan 1 "Royal" is a black, blue and white colorway that was part of the AJ1's original lineup, debuting in 1985 as Michael Jordan's first signature shoe. While Jordan never wore them in an NBA game, they appeared on legendary MJ posters and became a highly coveted colorway. They became a defining element of MJ's off-court style, just as notable as his on-court looks.

Nike has played around with this famous colorway, including a Flyknit version in 2017 and the Jordan 1 "Royal Reimagined" style in 2023, which featured a brushed suede upper. The colorway has also been altered, as the brand experimented with different colorblocking in the Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Game Royal and Jordan 1 Mid Deep Royal Blue styles.

This drop isn't a reinvention; it's a revival. The brand is releasing the OG style and colorway, just as it was in 1985, but with updated sneaker tech and materials. You get the Royal Blue and black colorblocking and the contrasting bone white midsole that creates a sharp look. It's just like the OG release, except it's better.

Premium Craftsmanship and Full Family Sizing Details

This sneaker is crafted from premium leather, which feels much softer and more comfortable than the leather from 1985. You'll notice it's supple to the touch and offers just the right amount of flexibility for comfortable movement. The original version could be a bit rigid, so this update is a welcome change.

While Nike may have swapped a few outdated materials for modern ones, the shoe still has all the classic AJ1 elements. You'll see the nostalgic Wings logo on the side of the high-top collar along with the Nike Air branding on the tongue. The perforated toe box allows for ventilation, while the strategic groove pattern on the outsole enhances stability from all angles.

In 1985, you could only get these in men's sizes. But this upcoming release is for the whole fam. They'll be available in men's, boys' grade school, boys' preschool, boys' toddler and boys' infant sizes. They have a true-to-size fit, making it easy to order them online from Hibbett before they sell out.
