Ever versatile, the Air Jordan 3s began life as a hoops shoe in the late ’80s. The Tinker Hatfield-conceived design was the first to drop the Wings logo, the first to show off the Air-Sole unit in the heel via a window and the first to employ elephant print mudguards.
This particular rendition begins with a soft tan suede base, wrapped with crackled elephant print mudguards in light brown and milk chocolate tones. A darker tan characterizes the shoe’s vamp and tongue, with darker brown eye stays and round gold eyelets informing the lacing system. Gold metallic Jumpman insignias play out on the tongue in embroidery, with the Air Jordan logo outfitted in TPU along the heel. The dark chocolate color forms the heel counter and dresses the sockliner and insole, making these kicks comfy whether your kid is at school or you’re at a sporting event. A light grayish tone swaths the outsole, with varying traction patterns appearing in shades of brown and off-white.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro’s “Light Orewood Brown” colorway is in line with the popularity of neutral wardrobe staples, whether nude-colored joggers and a cropped tank or light brown graphic tee, darker brown shorts and a beanie to match.
