Add the AJ 7 Retro to the list of Jumpman silhouettes seeing a resurgence in 2023. Originally released in 2006, the “Chambray” shoe is back, and it deserves all the hype.
A luxe black nubuck upper gives this men’s Jordan sneaker a sophisticated spin, following the OG retro’s footprint. That soft-washed, vintage-style Chambray tone appears on the ankle’s embroidered Jumpman, edges the midsole in zig-zag fashion, plays out on the tongue’s Air Jordan moniker and gives a satiny sheen to the sockliner.
The angular heel emblem also features a Chambray No. 23, with light blue accents incorporated into the sneaker’s outsole as well. A soft grey also artfully blends into this release, blurring the lines from black to blue on the tongue, heel tab and outsole. A few white geometric shapes also play into the circular traction grooves.
A beloved silhouette, the Air Jordan 7s were initially introduced in 1992, once MJ was well cemented in the stratosphere as the G.O.A.T. The shoe has endured over the decades, thanks to its sensible, timeless design, comfortable foam midsole and full-length Air unit.
