The OG AJ 9 Retro “Olive” colorway originally launched in 1993 and was last retroed in 2012. Now it’s back, capitalizing on the trend toward deep, neutral tones. This particular shoe stays true to the original, featuring a black leather upper with the signature indentations that add to the utilitarian aesthetic. A more rugged midsole and outsole also land in black, with Light Olive overlays outfitted in suede. The brown-toned suede wraps the heel and ankle, adding to the boot-like look of the shoe. A speed lacing system rests atop a mesh tongue and makes tightening and loosening these sneakers a breeze, even for the smallest wearers.
True Red hits appear with the tongue’s Jordan logo, Jumpman along the midsole and outsole, and the global Jumpman emblem at the heel. Red Nike branding also appears on the shoe’s insoles, while a Light Olive “23” gets stitched at the bottom of the ankle.
The Air Jordan 9 was the shoe that took the Jumpman brand global, and the rubber traction pattern reflects the globalization and wider appeal of the Jordan portfolio. In addition to the color scheme, these sneakers provide all-day comfort thanks to Air-Sole units embedded in the heel and forefoot, padded sockliners and premium materials.
