Touted as a revolution in performance, Tinker Hatfield' first Air Max shoe was advertised to the world using The Beatles' song "Revolution," along with appearances from John McEnroe and Michael Jordan. And it looks like the revolution took hold because we're still wearing these classic kicks inspired by the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris today.
But to push things forward, Nike is dropping a new Air Max variant with modern technology. The Nike Air Max Dn is designed for a more dynamic heel-to-toe transition and is the first classic shoe to incorporate Dynamic Air — a four-tubed Nike Air unit that'll make every step feel like walking on a cloud.
The result? A heel unit that's smaller than other recent Air Max releases like the Air Max 270. But that's not a bad thing. It creates a smoother stride because the two pressurized chambers have two tubes that move air freely with every step you take, adjusting to your personalized stride. The heel has 15 psi, and the forefoot has 5 psi to deliver a seamless sensation.
Outside of the new Air technology, the rest of the shoe also looks futuristic. The upper is made of a haptic print of silicon ridges with dappling across the entire surface. There's a TPU midfoot shank clip for additional support.
You'll spot the Nike Swoosh at the top of the lace box, midfoot and outsole. There's also a special Air Max emblem on the tongue, insole and heel so everyone knows you're rocking a redesigned classic.
