The LeBron 21 in Violet Dust, Purple Cosmos and University Gold drops online and in-stores on October 14.
The past year has been a big one for LeBron James. Become the NBA's all-time leading scorer? Check. Become part owners of the Italian football club A.C. Milan? Check. Release your 21st signature shoe? Check.
Now, the newly minted LeBron 21 is getting a makeover. The Violet Dust, Purple Cosmos and University Gold colorway perfectly matches the LA Lakers uniform colors. This Jason Petrie design drops in men's and grade school kids' sizes on October 14.
Inspired by James' daughter, Zhuri, the LeBron 21 is all about the next generation of performers with an Air Zoom unit and soft cushioning. In this shoe, that Air unit is embedded into the pearlescent purple heel that's labeled with golden "Air Zoom" branding on the medial side. The lateral side features a small monochromatic Swoosh.
The rest of the midsole is a more muted purple, almost a lilac color. Underneath, you can see the brighter purple rubber outsole, lined with a zig-zag tread pattern.
The rest of the shoe was modeled after the properties of an oyster shell, so you'll find it both lightweight and impenetrable. The tumbled leather upper uses Violet Dust as its main color, with perforation holes along the medial and lateral forefoot and midfoot. Across the side panel is a raised monochromatic Swoosh that's outlined with golden trim on the bottom edge.
Violet Dust laces strap up over a tongue of the same color. Additional branding across the shoe includes King James' signature in gold on the tongue and an XXI emblem on the heel.
Wearing this basketball shoe is easy. Just throw it on with white crew socks and your favorite tapered black joggers. Come game time, pair it with your team's jersey and some basketball shorts.
