The Jordan Zion 2 “Hyper Royal/White/Black” basketball shoe drops in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes September 21 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Injury may have had Zion Williamson on the bench all last season, but the Pelicans basketball player is back and ready to kick off the 2022–2023 season. As he gears up for a fresh start, so too does his latest sneaker colorway. 

First released in June, the Jordan Zion 2 is back with another edition, this time paying tribute to his collegiate roots. Dropping on September 21, the “Hyper Royal” gives any Zion wannabe a heady mix of materials and tones, including the titular tint, black and white. They’ll be available in grade school kids’ and men’s sizes. 

Though Williamson’s time with the Blue Devils was short — a single season — he managed to snag the South Carolina Mr. Basketball title and was named runner-up for Mr. Basketball USA. Then Williamson moved to the pros … and you know the rest. 

These Duke-colored kicks artfully blend color with performance-enhancing features. Leather meets mesh, meets crackling, meets rubber for a secure fit and precise moves. Swathed primarily in the Hyper Royal blue, the upper’s leather sides feature ventilated perforations that’ll help any player avoid defenders on court while keeping cool. 

A stitched-on mesh toebox contributes to the overall breathability of the shoe while giving flexibility when and where it’s needed. The blue forefoot strap gets some heritage Jumpman flavor with its crackled elephant print. A colorblocked blue-black midsole includes Air Strobel cushioning in the heel, lending strategic Air to the part of the foot that needs it most, with Zoom Air in the forefoot straps to balance out the comfort. 

A nylon black ankle collar gives lightweight support, with a black suede heel counter housing the white Jumpman insignia and giving a sophisticated finish to the shoe. Top billing on the tongue, outsole and insole goes to Zion, with his zig-zag logo splayed out in white against black backdrops.
