The Nike KD 14 has a penchant for being colorful and fun, just like its namesake Kevin Durant. KD has his hands in a lot of pies—lighting up the court, acting on screen, and even writing articles—so it makes sense that his shoes would be just as eclectic.
The new black, white and primary color scheme features fun paint splatter on a zebra-patterned base. It drops on Sept. 5 in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes.
The mixed materials upper features a layer of black swirls atop a white background drizzled with faint blue streaks. This creates a see-through effect that gives the kicks more dimension. Of course, the standard hook-and-loop lockdown strap—inspired by the shape of the grim reaper’s scythe—adds contrast in a royal blue. Speckled on this strap are tons of red and green paint splotches, along with a bold yellow Swoosh on the lateral ankle.
You’ll notice a bright yellow tongue with blue KD branding, all paired with yellow and black laces. On the medial side of the shoe, there’s a red Swoosh that also matches the same red patch at the heel.
Beneath all of this is a white midsole speckled with blue paint splatters. In the middle, you’ll catch a glimpse of the full-length Air Zoom Strobel unit, which is attached to the upper to eliminate extra weight and provide more responsiveness. The opaque gray window has another burst of yellow in the middle.
On the outsole, you’ll see all five colors of the shoe combine for a strong effect. A stiff yellow and white piece under the arch gives you extra support, while blue, red and black traction grooves help you maintain your grip on the hardwood.
Fresh doesn’t even begin to cover these kicks. Basketball players love them, so be sure to lace them up for your next big game. Pair them with your favorite sportswear—including some baller crew socks—to show the world your true style. You can find them in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes starting Sept. 5 online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
