Nike Caitlin 1 Release Date, Technology and Design Details

While Clark hinted for months that her signature shoe would feature technology Nike had never used before, we now know exactly what she meant.

The Nike Caitlin 1 introduces Nike Opticast, a new upper construction featuring cast polyurethane nodes designed to improve lockdown, reduce drag and support quick movements on the court. Nike paired the new upper with a responsive forefoot Air Zoom Turbo unit and a plush Cushlon midsole for explosive energy return and comfort.

Clark has long cited Kobe Bryant basketball shoes, Kobe 5 and Kobe 6, as some of her favorite basketball shoes, and elements of that influence can be seen throughout the Caitlin 1. The shoe features a low-profile silhouette, lightweight construction and responsive ride that supports quick cuts, fast break opportunities and deep-range shooting.

Nike designers worked closely with Clark throughout the development process, building the shoe around three key goals: a quicker first step, a faster step-back and a faster shot release. The result is a performance basketball sneaker designed specifically for the way Clark plays the game.

The Caitlin 1 is loaded with personal details that celebrate Clark's journey from Iowa prodigy to one of basketball's biggest stars.

As expected, Clark's signature interlocking "CC" logo plays a major role throughout the collection. The shoe also incorporates her No. 22 through subtle design details, including "C" and "2" configurations built into the upper.

The launch colorway, known as "Caitlin Blue," delivers a clean look inspired by Clark's identity and style. Additional colorways are expected throughout Holiday 2026, giving both athletes and collectors plenty of options after the initial release.

Nike also incorporated storytelling elements inspired by Clark's childhood driveway court. Throughout the apparel collection, you'll find concrete-inspired graphics and personal references that connect back to the spaces where she first developed the deep shooting range that would eventually make her a household name.

The outsole continues the storytelling theme with motivational phrases including "Shoot More Threes," "From Anywhere" and "It Was Never a Long Shot," nodding to the confidence and range that have defined Clark's game.
