Hibbett x Nike Honors Anfernee Simons Alma Mater with $10,000

The celebration at Edgewater High School marked a full-circle moment for one of its most notable alumni. In partnership with Nike, Hibbett recently launched a new episode of The Origin—a mini-series spotlighting the stories of emerging talent in sports and culture. The latest episode features NBA shooting guard and Edgewater alum, Anfernee Simons, highlighting his journey from Altamonte Springs to the NBA.

The day kicked off with a heartfelt welcome from Coach Jon Mason, who gathered the team for what they thought was a regular meeting. Instead, players were greeted by Jair Rivero from Hibbett and Anfernee Simons himself, who made a surprise appearance to celebrate the launch of his The Origin episode and give back to the program that shaped him. “Edgewater High School is a big part of my Origin,” Simons shared. “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give back to where I came from—where I grew and developed.”

This unforgettable day celebrated not just Anfernee Simons’ rise to success, but also the hard work, heart, and hustle that continues to define the Edgewater Eagles. The event wrapped with content moments featuring the team, Hibbett giveaways—including basketball sleeves, water bottles, and portable speakers—and plenty of smiles all around.

Coach Mason had recently shared a wish list of equipment that would help the team continue developing on and off the court. In response, Simons, along with Hibbett and Nike, presented a $10,000 donation to the Edgewater basketball program, fulfilling that list and ensuring the Eagles have the resources they need to level up their game. “Thank you to Hibbett and Nike, and to Anfernee for this special gift and for his commitment to our community,” said Coach Mason. “It means the world to these players to see someone who once stood where they are now, coming back to invest in their future.”
