FILA Fashion
As the Fila brothers continued their textile business, they searched for other ways to expand, using their business and materials knowledge, so they began producing high-quality knitwear, which was a runaway success. Throughout the years, they expanded, joining forces with other businesses to continue offering knitwear while broadening their reach. In the late 1960s, FILA officially became a global sportswear brand. Soon, FILA clothing was on the tennis courts, seen on Italian tennis stars like Bjorn Borg, Adriano Panatta and Paolo Bertolucci.
In the mid-1980s, adventurer Reinhold Messner took FILA to new heights when he summited Mount Everest wearing FILA-designed gear.
Mainstream Clothing
It wasn’t until the late ’80s and early 1990s, however, that FILA went mainstream in the culture. Suddenly, FILA became one of the “it” brands of the nineties with tracksuits and sweatshirts bearing the now-famous FILA logo. Its rise to cultural fame also got its boost from up-and-coming artists like Run D.M.C. and LL Cool J.
