In 2010, American Dance Movement co-founder Nigel Lythgoe and Congresswoman Eleanor Norton established National Dance Day. The two created this annual tribute to show support for dance as a valuable form of exercise and artistic expression, but they also wanted to make dance accessible and inclusive to everyone. Hibbett | City Gear is proud to offer a plethora of apparel and kicks to get you suited up for this nationwide celebration.
When is National Dance Day? We celebrate every third Saturday in September, and in 2022, that falls on September 17. Leading up to the day, the American Dance Movement organization provides an instructional video online for people to view, learn and share with others no matter where they’re located.
In anticipation of this year’s event, we’ve pulled together five of our favorite TikTok dance videos brought to you by… us! Here are some Hibbett | City Gear team members doing their thing to celebrate dance.
Richmond Crew Cranks It
Our reps in Richmond, Virginia, show their “Hannah Montana” moves while they let customers know we accept PayPal and Venmo in stores. Why not have the best of both worlds, right? Notice those fly Nike hoodies in the background?
Winchester Works It
These two sales associates in our Winchester, Kentucky, store show some smooth Izzy moves. If you’re a fan of North Carolina like this guy, we’ve got the Tar Heels threads you need for game day. Add a pair of Jordan sneaks, and you’ll be rocking it like the G.O.A.T. himself.
Shuffling in Santa Rosa
Getting their dance on at our Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, location, these staffers show off Nike kicks. Cop their laidback summer looks with men’s and women’s Nike shirts and Nike shorts for women and men. Of course, if your mini-me wants to kick it with you, we’ve got Nike kids’ styles for them as well.
Attitude in Evansville
“Vulture Island” strikes our Evansville, Indiana, crew. These ladies know how to jam, and they have the Nike threads to go along with their moves. Girls, grab yourself a women’s Nike hoodie to pair with leggings or joggers for jamming out on National Dance Day. And how about those Los Angeles Lakers jerseys in the back?
Booty Shakin’ with Bey
These Hibbett | City Gear teammates pop it in their Freakum Dress Challenge video, vibing in more Nike styles. However, there are plenty of other brands, such as adidas, Tommy Hilfiger and PUMA, that offer this ladies’ crop-top style as well as graphic tees for men. And personally, we think Queen B would approve.
