PUMA is famous across the globe, the brand’s classic style — unmistakable. What happens when such a legendary company blends the imagination and innovation of yesteryear with one of their most famous sneaker styles? You get the latest PUMA to hit the market — the 1980s-inspired PUMA x Tetris RS-X men’s shoe.
PUMA’s original RS sneaker (Running System) debuted in 1986, two years after the popular tile-matching game Tetris was first introduced to the world. Three years later, Tetris became a worldwide sensation with Nintendo gamers, a trend that’s continued through more than three decades since the game was released.
PUMA’s RS cushioning technology was completely revolutionary for its era. The RS-X ups the ante even further, bringing that OG technology into the modern-day by blending it with a lightweight PU midsole.
The Tetris anniversary signature RS-X sneaker is bulky and loud — in true 80s fashion — featuring a vibrant colorway of blue, orange, red, green, yellow and purple, and blocky TPU graphics that pay homage Tetris game pieces, known as Tetrominos.
Other features of the shoe include a mesh upper with both textile and leather overlays for breathability. A full lace closure gives the shoe a snug fit, while a thick padded tongue and lining add to the shoe’s overall comfort. The lightweight midsole with RS cushioning gives the wearer all-day under-foot support, while a rubber outsole offers traction and grip.
PUMA also features plenty of branding incorporated throughout the shoe, including a stitched PUMA formstrip design on the shoe’s lateral sides, RS-X branding on the tongue’s pull tab and other original RS branding.
Find these totally bad to the bone ‘80s kicks in a Black and Blue Tetris colorway online or in-stores at Hibbett Sports. The shoes drop in men’s sizes on October 17.
