Many of the most iconic Air Jordan kicks hail from the ’90s, and the soon-to-be-released Jordan Zoom ’92 in a “Black/University Red” colorway is no exception. These kicks — available in men’s sizes — riff on the era and embrace the zeitgeist full dunk.
The basketball-focused design borrows elements from the past with slight variations. There’s the stretchy internal fit sleeve from the Air Max 180, the stitched-down heel badge of the AJ 7 and the sculpted design detailing of the Air Force 5. The updated silhouette has today’s more advanced materials and performance technology.
The shoe’s colorway — a classic block style teaming of black and red — pays homage to the kicks’ heritage, resembling the iconic “Bred” colorway of the original Air Jordans. Sleek matte black uppers sport smooth leather with rubberized eyestays. Mesh panels wrap from the throat to the heel and overlay a black lateral swoosh.
Pops of University Red appear on the Jumpman emblem, the Zoom-branded outsole molding and along the sculpted forefoot. The classic Nike color also accents the branding stamp on the lateral side panel and the Jumpman on the tongue and medial side.
The sleeve, collar, midsole and outsole are all swathed in grey. Additional hits of the color appear on the reinforcement patch at the top of the lacing system and at the heel. A bright white heel counter and midsole complete the sporty look.
The plush collar, sculpted foam midsoles and Zoom Air under the ball of the foot seal the shoe’s high comfort quotient. The rubber outsole’s herringbone tread wraps partially up the toe for better traction and durability. Grooves in the outsole around the rear Zoom unit dial up responsiveness and flexibility.
