Softball Cleats put studs under your feet for grip when you slide into home, sprint for a catch, race from base to base or change direction fast. Pick the pair first, and build the rest of your softball gear around the field and league you play in.
The main difference between them sits under your foot. Each stud setup changes how the shoe grips, how long it lasts and where you are allowed to wear it. Metal cleats bite into dirt and grass where leagues allow them, while molded cleats work on several surfaces, including turf. Detachable cleats let you replace worn studs instead of the whole shoe, and turf shoes are a practical pick for practice and artificial turf fields.
The range covers women's softball cleats for adult players and girls' pairs for younger athletes. Brands like Nike, New Balance, Mizuno, Under Armour and RIP-IT appear across these types.
Start with your league rules and the surface you play on most, then look at these essential elements. If you play more than one sport, keep a separate pair for each, since baseball cleats, football cleats and soccer cleats follow their own stud designs and league rules.

Sizing can vary from one model to the next, so check the Hibbett size chart before you order. Measure your feet later in the day, when they are slightly larger, and compare the result with the chart.
Neither one wins everywhere. Pick metal when your league allows it and you want a deeper bite on dirt and grass, and go with molded plastic or rubber when rules, turf or a mix of fields call for something more adaptable.
Under USA Softball's 2026 rules, metal spikes can extend no more than 3/4 inch from the sole where they are allowed, and other leagues can set their own limits. USA Softball also lists specific divisions where metal is not allowed and does not allow rounded metal spikes even where metal is permitted, so check yours before game day.
Knock dirt out of the studs after each game, then scrub the upper with a soft brush, mild soap and water. Skip the washing machine and let the pair air dry before the next practice.
