From basketball shoe to mainstay fashion footwear, the Nike Air Force 1 has earned its place atop the list of most influential and iconic sneakers of all time (second only to the original Air Jordan 1.)

Its casual low top silhouette and minimalist design combine to give the AF1 an effortlessly cool aesthetic so versatile that the shoe can easily pair with athletic shorts and a tee for an afternoon hang sesh with the guys, or a casual dress for an evening out with the girls, no matter the time of year.

This spring and summer, keep your warm-weather fashions fresh with these custom-curated toe-to-head looks and tips on how to style your Air Force 1s for some serious spring and summer fun.

Old School Cool

Nike Air Force Ones are most often seen in low-top styles, but did you know that the low-top AF1 actually came second to the high-top version? That’s right. The original Air Force One hit basketball courts and store shelves in a high cut rendition that featured an ankle strap for added security in 1982; the AF1 low dropped the following year.

This sunny season, we’re all about incorporating retro elements into our everyday looks. After all, old-school-cool is cutting edge fashion these days. Front and center with this particular fit are Air Force One white-white high tops, seen here loosely laced for a messy, carefree appearance.

Ankle-length socks add to the 80s aesthetic. For bottoms, we like how the icy blue color palette pops in contrasts and acts as a break between the all-white anchor and white top of the ensemble. We can’t tell for sure, but it looks like this sneakerhead is sporting a pair of Psychic Blue Nike Men’s Club Sportswear Graphic Shorts, but for the ULTIMATE 80s-inspired outfit, we recommend swapping these shorts out for a pair of cut-off jean shorts.

Up top, a Lot29 x Astro Boy tee ties this look together. To some, this t-shirt is just your average white tee, but we love it because it’s just one more retro component to the outfit — Astro Boy, or Mighty Atom, was the main character in the 1980s TV series by the same name.

Sporty Chic

Dressed for a tennis match or for an early afternoon cocktail at your favorite sports bar? Who can tell with this sporty-chic two-piece ensemble from Nike’s spring lineup?!

Available in a trio of sorbet pastel tones that casual fashion gurus predict will be one of the biggest trends of spring/summer 2021, the tank and pencil skirt combo are absent of flashy graphics or design flourishes, featuring only a single Nike Swoosh logo on each piece.

Another element of this outfit that places it in the front row of fashion is its use of texture. Both the Nike Women’s Air Crop Tank and matching skirt are ribbed. A mock turtle next tank and a similar broad waistband also add to the fit’s appeal. Anchoring the ensemble: a pair of timeless white and grey Swoosh low-top Air Force Ones.

Show off your style by dressing the pairing up with a cropped jacket, a sparkling tennis bracelet and chunky earrings, or dressing it down with a sports visor and your smartwatch.

Single & Ready to Flamingle

There’s a reason outdoorsmen, hunters, roadside workers and street joggers all wear orange vests — or at the very least an orange accessory. Orange is an attention-grabbing color, a head-turner, and if you’re single and ready to mingle this sunshine season, then Nike’s got the perfect spring/summer tee for you!

Offering a cheery, tropi-cool aesthetic, the Nike Sportswear Beach tee features a bold oasis graphic, complete with a lemon yellow Swoosh, coastal waters and the most confident-looking flamingo we’ve ever seen; all he’s missing is a pair of Ray-Bans. What else is cool about this top is that Nike offers it in two other colors, too!

A pair of Jordan Men’s Jumpman Classics French Terry Shorts in a Tiffany blue tone serves as a smooth transition from the ensemble’s eye-catching shirt to its statement sneakers. The sharp white-white colorway worn in the accompanying image offers a nice departure from the frenzy of color above it, and while we LOVE a clean look, we also recommend trying this look out with a pair of men’s “Indigo Plant” or Strike/Aquamarine Nike Air Force 1 ’07 LV8 kicks.

Kick(s) Back, Relax

Thank goodness the days when bike shorts were for Lance Armstrong-types and baggy band tees were worn as nightshirts are long gone. Now, athleisurewear is all the rage and comfort is queen. That’s why we love this simple toe-to-head Air Force Fresh fit.
