If your unique style requires the standout look of Converse Chuck Taylors, you may want something a little less ho-hum than traditional lacing. But which of the many different ways to lace Converse is right for you? Here are a few ideas for cool ways to lace Converse high tops or low tops that get the Hibbett | City Gear thumbs-up:
How to Lace Converse High Tops in Diamond Style
If you’re using flat laces, make sure they’re not twisted while you lace up your shoes.
Step 1: Pull your laces up through the bottom eyelets.
Step 2: Select one of the laces, and insert it down into the third eyelet from the bottom on the opposite side, skipping one eyelet.
Step 3: With that same lace, pull it up through the second eyelet from the top on the opposite side, and continue that pattern until you reach the top.
Step 4: Take the other lace, and weave it under and over the other laces, inserting it first into the opposite eyelet, third from the top.
Step 5: Continue the pattern you established with the first lace, weaving over and under until you reach the top of the shoe.
How to Bar Lace Converse
Step 1: Start with your shoelaces laced down through the bottom eyelets on either side of the shoe.
Step 2: Pull the lace on the left side through the left eyelet second from the bottom. Then pull that same lace over the front of the shoe, pushing it down through the eyelet directly parallel, so the lace is now tucked under.
Step 3: Grab the lace that originally begins on the right side of the shoe. Instead of inserting it through the second eyelet from the bottom like the last lace, you’re going to skip an eyelet (or the eyelet you just pulled the other lace through), pulling it through the third eyelet from the bottom.
Step 4: Insert the lace in the eyelet directly parallel.
Step 5: Continue this pattern until you reach the top and can tie laces in a traditional, standard bow. You can also forego the bow and tuck the laces into the shoe for a cleaner look.
How to Lace Converse Using Side Holes
Step 1: Unlace your shoe’s top two eyelets.
Step 2: Select the outside lace, and pull it across the tongue, into the shoe and out the first side hole closest to the toe.
Step 3: Insert that same lace through the second side hole and through the second eyelet from the top on the same side of the shoe.
Step 4: Continue to lace your shoes in the traditional criss-cross pattern, finishing with a bow at the top.
