What Golf Accessories Do I Need?

Dec 29, 2020

When you’re talking about golf, the clubs are just the beginning. Golf balls and accessories can make or break a player.

Golf Balls

For golf balls, it’s all about compression, which is the pressure in the ball. There are different degrees of compression depending on the golfer’s hitting style. The average compression is 90, used by average hitters for greater distance.

If you are a heavy hitter, a 100-compression ball is better for you — it’s not as easily compressed and is more durable for hard swingers. Women’s golf balls look the same as men’s, but they are 80-compression, which helps with distance.

Golf Accessories

Golfers strive to better themselves and their games at every opportunity. The right accessory often helps. Here are just some of the products you can find at Hibbett | City Gear:

  • Golf tees are small plastic or wood pegs with an indent on top to hold golf balls.
  • Umbrellas are good to have on hand in case of rain or intense sun. Golf umbrellas are larger to protect the golfer and his or her equipment.
  • Golf gloves help golfers grip the clubs. Some prefer to wear the glove on just one hand, the one closest to the top of the club. Gloves are made from leather, vinyl or nylon and can be fingerless or full-fingered.
  • Practice balls are lightweight and don’t travel as far as regular golf balls. They’re geared for use in smaller, special practice areas.
  • Ball spotters are colored plastic chips used to show where the ball on the green was after it’s been removed. This allows another player an unrestricted putt.
