October is a big month for students, staff, faculty and alums of HBCUs across the country.
The month kicks off the HBCU homecoming season, a week-long celebration of school history and spirit marked by exciting events like band performances, concerts, parades, amazing foods, and, of course, football.
This year, City Gear and Nike joined in on the festivities at three HBCUs: Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Clark Atlanta University in the ATL and Tennessee State University in Nashville.
City Gear stores in each area hosted homecoming celebrations of their own featuring live broadcasts by local radio stations, gift card and swag giveaways and entertainment by school spirit groups.
In addition to these in-store events, City Gear and Nike also awarded $10,000 to each University.
Congratulations to FAMU, CAU, and TSU on being awarded these funds in support of your Historically Black Colleges and Universities this special homecoming season!
