See It Styled: How We Wear Our Reeboks

Jan 25, 2021

From music-industry chart-toppers Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, Cardi B, and Khalid to sports superstars like J.J. Watt and the original Reeboks athletes Shaq and Allen Iverson, Reebok sneakers have graced the feet of some of the world’s most famous individuals.

At its inception, the Reebook brand centered around crafting top-quality performance footwear, and through the late ’80s, Reebok was the biggest player in the athletic apparel and footwear industry thanks to sneaker silhouettes like the Revenge Plus, better known as the Club Classic 85 in today’s sneakersphere.

Later, the Reebok Pump, Kamikaze and Question, and then collaborations with hip-hop artists Jay Z, 50 Cent, and G-Unit, helped the fitness and causal fashion brand become one of the most iconic retro labels in the business.

This week, Hibbett | City Gear is celebrating iconic Reebok styles with a look at how YOU like to wear your Reebok products. See it all styled below!

Beyond the Ball Game

Since its debut on the sneaker scene in 1996, Allen Iverson’s signature basketball shoe has transcended its place in the paint and moved into the realm of fashion footwear. Offered in dozens of colorways, PEs and mid and high top renditions, the Reebok Question still features all the performance tech that made it a star-making in the 1990s, like a DMX foam midsole and Hexalite cushioning, but you’re more likely to find a pair of these kicks on the streets than on the sidelines these days.

Josh Richardson (@jrich_0), the former Philadelphia 76ers and current Dallas Mavs player, wears his Reebok Question Mid “Heart Over Hype” sneakers with dark wash jeans, a plain white tee and a charcoal gray, hooded jacket, letting his kicks serve as the focal point of his fit.

Standout Style

Decked out toe-to-head in Reebok apparel and sneakers, Jason Kusimo (@pattern.papi) chooses to lean hard into the vibrant colors of his Reebok Classics for a head-turning ensemble.

The Reebok’s Classics line, which was established as its own division in the early 2000s, includes heritage models like the Reebok Classic Leather, Leather Badge and Leather Mark low top runners, the old-school-cool Reebok Classic Legacy and Classic Leather Legacy and the Reebok Club 85, to name a few.

Each of these models is instantly recognizable thanks to their playful colorblocking of Laser and Instinct Reds, Splendid, Latik and Upbeat Blues, Hero Yellow, violets, pinks, and practically all the other colors of the rainbow.

Grounded in Tradition

Designed for a certain Seattle SuperSonics power forward, the original Reebok Kamikaze was brought to life by Ricardo Vestuti in 1994. The chunky performance shoe was characterized by high-contrast, wave-line graphics inspired by Venezuelan art. A year later, designer Jonathon Morris released the Reebok Kamikaze II, featuring a thicker wave patterning and bolder colorblocking. This second rendition would eventually become the shoe most sneakerheads and basketball fans associated with “The Reignman’s” signature sneaker collection.

Today, both Kamikaze I and Kamikaze II have been retroed in multiple throw-back and new colorways. One such retro release is the Reebok Kamikaze 2 “Black/White/Utility Green” colorway, similar to the OG Kamikaze’s debut “SuperSonics” colorway.

Rome Denson (@ashgreyt), a freelance photographer, wears his Kamikaze IIs with bottoms that mimic the silhouette’s distinctive geometric design. By pairing his pants and Kamikaze kicks with a solid colored hoodie, Denson’s outfit naturally draws the eye to his sneaks.

Feet on Fleek

Reebok isn’t just a sportswear brand anymore. Tampa, Florida streetwear fashion designer and stylist @svnchez_ shows us, Reebok sneakers are modern style staples.

Whereas the stylist’s simple acid wash jeans and black tee might otherwise be nothing to talk about alone, when paired with bright white and grey Reebok Classic Legacies, with its punchy hits of red and blue, take the ensemble to the next level.

Accessorizing the look with a thick chain necklace, oversized belt, coordinating red backpack, and futuristic sunglasses brings this look together and drives the brand’s popularity into the next generation.
