In only five NBA seasons, Jayson Tatum, the Jordan brand’s newest signature shoe inductee, is already a three-time All-Star, a two-time All-NBA member and is considered by many to be one of the league’s best up-and-coming players. This year, the 24-year-old, 6-foot, 8-inch Boston Celtics forward and Duke alumni kept the momentum going as he led his team to the NBA Finals.
Tatum has experienced quite the success on the hardcourt, but he’s also garnered attention elsewhere, namely with the Jumpman, signing a multiyear deal with the brand in 2019. Since then, we’ve seen several Jordan-influenced selections in Jayson Tatum shoes, including the Air Jordan 26 Low “Koolmac” before Game 1 of the Celtics-Bucks Eastern Conference semifinals. There was also a pair of player-exclusive Air Jordan 14 Retro Lows as well as the Air Jordan 37 Low, which he wore to a recent practice at Duke in preparation for the 2022–2023 season. The 37s featured a black and white colorway, black mesh paneling and blue-gray and red trim.
With all his success and style, it’s no wonder Jordan has a Jayson Tatum signature shoe in the works.
During an episode of the “Knuckleheads” podcast in late 2021, Tatum hinted that his own sneaker was on the way. A recent Tatum Twitter post confirmed just that, making him only the sixth player in NBA history to secure a signature Jumpman sneak — skyrocketing him into legendary status with the likes of the G.O.A.T. himself.
Though the Jordan brand hasn’t released any images of the sneaks or officially finalized the name, what they’re currently calling the “Jordan Tatum 1” is slated for release as part of the brand’s late spring/summer 2023 lineup. The shoe also will feature sizes for the whole family, and they’re expected to come with an affordable price tag of $120 for men’s sizing.
It’s rumored the Jayson Tatum signature shoe will launch in three colorways:
