The Air Jordan 13 "Flint" is a legendary colorway, although these shoes were never worn by Michael Jordan in the NBA. The white, blue and grey colorway is a subtle nod to MJ's college basketball roots at UNC (specifically, in the University Blue aspects of the colorway), so perhaps it is no surprise that it was college players in the late '90s who amplified the Flint's popularity.

Since it debuted in MJ's 1997-98 "Last Dance" season in the NBA, the "Flint" colorway has been a staple of the Air Jordan 13 collection. A regular reissue and perennial favorite among sneakerheads, the latest Jordan 13 "Flint" releases August 1. The retro drops in full family sizing, from adult to infant.

How popular is the Air Jordan 13 "Flint"? The 2026 edition will be the fourth retro release for the colorway. It followed its 1998 debut with reissues in 2005, 2010 and 2020. And there have been eye-catching variations, like 2021's Jordan 13 Retro Red Flint. 

The Air Jordan 13 is Tinker Hatfield's tribute to Michal Jordan's "Black Cat" nickname. Some of the design references are explicitly feline: the outsole takes inspiration from a panther's paw; the hologram bubble on the angle resembles a cat's eye. Other features are more nuanced. A panther needs strength and stealth — the AJ13 features a carbon fiber shank in the midsole for support and Zoom Air cushioning for comfort. 

The AJ13 also uses premium materials to great effect. On the "Flint" colorway, the shoe gets much of its character from a dramatic swath of blue 3M reflective mesh. This contrasts with smooth white leather panels and soft, flint-grey suede accents. The result is an iconic colorway that is approaching its fourth retro edition and 30th anniversary.
