Tinker Hatfield's motivation when designing the Air Jordan 13 in 1996 was Michael Jordan's feline prowess. Seeing him zip powerfully down the hardwood reminded him of a black cat, leading him to create the 1997 design that lives in everyone's hearts today.
The standard dimpled leather upper is pure white, meaning this is a shoe you'll probably want to avoid wearing in the dirt. Suede Wheat overlays cover the midsole, side panel and heel. The rubber outsole is also Wheat and includes patches of white traction patterns.
At the base of the white tongue is a small Wheat Jordan tag. The rest of the tongue features ventilation holes and is covered by white laces. At the top is a standard Jumpman embroidered in Wheat.
A white collar melds into an asymmetrical heel. On the lateral side of each heel is the iconic holographic cat eye, which switches between "23" and Jumpman emblems. There's a similar round shape on the outsole, but instead of being holographic, it's a solid green color with a stationary black Jumpman.
All in all, this shoe would look great with jeans and your favorite vintage MJ tee. The brown Wheat color also makes it a great accessory for Thanksgiving meals.
It's been nearly 20 years since we've last seen the Jordan 13 Retro "Wheat," so don't let your chance to swag a pair go to waste. Grab yours on November 21 in men's, grade school kids', preschool kids', and toddler kids' sizes, online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
