This shoe's upper is a beautiful cascade of color. It starts as deep indigo at the vamp and transitions through purple and orange at the side panel. Then, the heel and ankle are covered in a deep red leather overlay. The overall effect perfectly mimics the vibe of a sunset.
To add to the sunset feel, you'll see black buildings printed onto the side panel — this is a replica of Chicago's skyline. Right above that is the classic black Swoosh — and in the original Jumpman photo, this is about where Jordan would be soaring through the air.
Other black overlays continue the silhouette feel at the eyestays and toe. The tongue is also black and features dark purple laces on top. There's lighter purple and red branding at the tongue's top, which is edged in black.
As with all AJ1s, the ankle features the original Air Jordan Wings logo in black — inspired by how MJ took flight at every turn. The insoles are basic red without any adornment, and the white midsole is classic and clean. Under it, though, we have a translucent outsole that features purple at the forefoot and orange at the heel — matching the sunset on the top of the shoe.
With all of the color in this casual kick, little ones can find a good shade to match the rest of their outfit. For example, they could rock red or purple shorts and a black shirt. Or, for a truly meta look, they could dress like MJ did in the iconic photo, red and black joggers with a red and black jersey over a white tee.
