The right shoe carried something even more personal: "My Very Best – To Brother – Love Always, Michael Jordan #23."
We can't confirm whether or not this Reimagined kick will have those messages, but either way, it's still a shoe you need for your collection.
Designed by Peter Moore, the original Air Jordan 1 changed the sneaker game forever. Before the now-iconic Wings logo became a staple, some early AJ1 samples featured a simple "Air Jordan" lettering on the lateral collar. This Black Toe Reimagined brings that forgotten detail back, swapping out the Wings logo for old-school “Air Jordan” branding, making it feel like a true what-if relic from the ‘80s.
And of course, the color blocking stays true to its roots — that unmistakable mix of white, black, and Varsity Red, a combo that defined Jordan Brand from day one. Premium leather, a crisp white base, black overlays, and that bold red ankle and heel panel — it’s everything that made the OG special, with a touch of vintage charm. A red Nike Air tag on the black nylon tongue keeps things era-accurate, while the Sail midsole gives off a slightly aged look, as if these kicks are 40 years old.
Underfoot is a monochromatic red outsole with a pivot circle traction pattern. While it won't keep up with the latest and greatest basketball shoes of today, it still looks sick as you're striding down the street with your crew.
Originally, this kick was meant to be a tribute to 40th anniversary of the Black Cat breaking the NBA's uniform policy. However, the original October 18 release was pushed back to February 15 instead — making these a great Valentine's Day gift for the sneakerhead in your life.
