In 1993, Michael Jordan left the game of basketball to pivot over to a new sport—baseball. That endeavor was admittedly short-lived, but in the wake of MJ’s NBA departure, Nike was at a crossroads of sorts; their bball sneaker king had vacated his throne.
Despite His Airness’ absence, however, Nike continued to roll out Air Jordan models. The Air Jordan 10 was the second shoe to drop during Michael Jordan’s first retirement. Nike designer Tinker Hatfield created the innovative Jordan 10 design … and continued to boost the Jordan brand with the City Series of AJ 10s in 1995. The City Pack featured unique colorways representative of several NBA cities throughout the country. Honored cities included New York, Chicago, Seattle and Orlando.
This October, bag a retro pair of Air Jordan 10s in the Seattle Supersonics colorway, now available in kid’s and men’s sizes. The throwback shoe features a Retro White, Black, Court Green and Amarillo color palette, the signature colors of the team formerly known as the Seattle Supersonics. Seattle’s former NBA team relocated to Oklahoma City in 2007 and changed names to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In honor of the original Supersonics sneaker, the Jordan 10 Retro “Seattle Supersonics” basketball shoe’s white leather upper is embellished with Court Green and Amarillo-Gold accents, alongside Black detailing. A Black version of the Jumpman logo appears on the basketball sneaker‘s heel and an Amarillo Jumpman is featured on the outsole.
While the Supersonics are no more, you’ll still find the same comfort and performance-enhancing elements of the sneaker’s original design from way back when. Standout features include a premium leather and fabric upper that offers a high-quality look and just the right amount of lightweight durability, whether you sport the shoes on the court or off. A foam midsole with an encapsulated Air unit provides premium cushioning, while the shoe’s signature rubber outsole offers supreme traction.
